Southside Paddlers at the NSW SLS Endurance Champs

A band of busters headed up the coast to Ocean Beach, nestled in Broken Bay, for the NSW Surf Lifesaving Enduranace Championships ski race. The weather and conditons were almost perfect, sunshine, water a little cold and a little choppy out the back of Lion Island.

Michael was first out in the u/17’s race and paddled extremely well for his age and being one of the youngest in the u/17’s, and finished in the middle of the pack. Hayleigh was next in the u/17’s and finished 5th  in 32.55 over the shorter course. Arnold was next cab off the rank in the under 19’s and finished 6th in a very respectable time of 42.21 over 8km. This was Arnold’s first sls ski race ever, so a great learning race for a kayak paddler! Emma competed in the Open womens and paddled into 3rd in 48.08. Nick Dawe, finished 2nd in the Open mens in 36.15. Thanks to Brian for his support, Michael for photography and Martin and Luke for wrangling skis and paddles. Not a bad effort for a gang of kayak paddlers!
